HIV & Aging On-Demand Course

The Training & Health Equity Collaborative is excited to announce the release of an On-Demand Course on HIV & Aging, designed to equip healthcare providers and multidisiplinary teams with foundational knowledge for HIV & Aging Services.

Audience:

This eLearning course is the first comprehensive HIV & Aging on-demand course of its kind, benefiting all members of the healthcare team. Whether you’re a clinician, nurse, social worker, case manager, community health worker, healthcare navigator, or other valued member of a healthcare team, this course is designed to address your learning needs in the HIV and Aging Services spaces.

Course Modules and Learning Paths:

Learning Paths are a sequence of course modules tailored to a specific audience. There are four learning paths to choose from (Click on the title of the learning path to register):

  • HIV & Aging for New Providers: This learning path is designed for healthcare teams new to both Aging and HIV services and includes all available modules in the course. Continuing education (CEs) are offered; providers must complete all modules and the evaluation to obtain a certificate of completion.
  • HIV & Aging for HIV Service Providers: This learning path is designed for HIV service providers who already have knowledge about HIV, but are looking to expand their knowledge about aging services. Continuing education (CEs) are offered; providers must complete all modules and the evaluation to obtain a certificate of completion.
  • HIV & Aging for Aging Service Providers: This learning path is designed for providers already working in the Aging sector who are looking to expand their knowledge of HIV. Continuing education (CEs) are offered; providers must complete all modules and the evaluation to obtain a certificate of completion.
  • HIV & Aging for Existing HIV and Aging Services providers (unrestricted): This learning path is designed for providers already working in the HIV & Aging sectors who want to self-direct their learning. It includes all available modules in the course, but providers can complete as few or as many modules as they would like to meet their individual learning goals.
    • Note: Continuing Education units (CEs) are not offered in this option.

Accessing the eLearning Courses:

To complete this training, you will log in twice for two different purposes:

  • Participant Account – This account is required to register in our system, receive the link to access the course receive your certificate of completion, and track training engagement for funding and reporting requirements.
    • Note: If you have attended one of our training events, you may already have an account. If you do, your login credentials are the same.
  • Articulate 360 Account – This account provides access to the online learning platform, where training modules are hosted. If you do not have an Articulate 360 account, you will be asked to create one.
    • Note: If you have used Articulate 360 in the past, you can sign in with those credentials.

There are 16 learning modules on healthcare topics essential to providing equitable, whole-person healthcare services to people aging with HIV. Each learning path described above includes a combination of the following modules:

  • HIV Gerontology: Part 1
  • HIV Gerontology: Part 2
  • Comorbidity Screening & Management in People Living with HIV over 50
  • Sexual Health for Older Adults
  • Supporting Mental Health for Older Adults Living with HIV
  • Substance Use & Harm Reduction: Building Solutions and Breaking Stigma
  • Ageism and HIV: Navigating Intersectional Identities and Barriers to Care
  • Addressing HIV Stigma in Older Adults
  • Social and Structural Drivers of Disparities in HIV Care Provision
  • Patient-Centered History Taking for People Aging with HIV
  • Health Promoting Factors for People Aging with HIV
  • Navigating Aging Services for People with HIV 50+
  • The Changing HIV Care Landscape for Older Adults
  • Long-term Care and Aging In Place: Options, Empowerment, and Autonomy
  • Later Life Planning: Supporting Autonomy for Older Adults with HIV
